‘Nostalgia on the Rocks’: Soviet Cocktail Menu at Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow
29 June 2026

Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow has launched a distinctive new concept celebrating the cult cocktail culture of the Soviet era. Recreating the warm hospitality of the 1960s to the 1980s, the menu offers more than a collection of drinks – it is a journey through cherished memories and familiar flavours. Guests can discover the greatest hits of the era, from the sparkling ‘Northern Lights’ to the legendary ‘Yorsh’, alongside the non-alcoholic milkshakes that defined the childhood of an entire generation.

What makes this menu particularly unique is its authentic presentation. Each cocktail is accompanied by a miniature Soviet-style snack, such as sprats, gherkins, tomato with cheese, marmalade or lemon wedges, carefully selected to complement the drink and transport guests back to another time.

The menu showcases some of the most iconic creations from the Soviet cocktail repertoire.
Signature favourites for lovers of bold flavours:

‘Northern Lights’ – A captivating blend of vodka, white sparkling wine, fresh lemon and honey. Sweet, gently spiced and lightly effervescent.
‘Brown Bear’ – A robust classic for purists, combining fine cognac with sparkling wine. Power and elegance in a single glass.
‘Salute’ – A celebratory mix of cognac, honey, citrus fruits and sparkling mineral water. Both refreshing and warming.

For those who enjoy complex, dessert-style creations:

‘Enigma’ – An intriguing combination of cognac, orange liqueur, white vermouth and a touch of lemon zest. An ideal digestif for lingering conversations.
‘Moon’ – A dessert in a glass. Creamy milk, vanilla ice cream, vanilla syrup and cognac create a velvety texture with a pleasantly warming finish.

Timeless classics:

‘Classic Yorsh’ – The legendary pairing of lager and vodka. A cocktail where size truly matters, served in a generous pint glass.
Berezka Gin & Tonic – A Russian interpretation of a British classic. Hoppers Gin is paired with distinctive Gardenist Birch Tonic, lending a subtle woody character.

Price per alcoholic cocktail: RUB 1,150

For guests who prefer alcohol-free options, the menu also features the beloved ‘USSR Milkshakes’. Rich vanilla ice cream is blended with milk and a choice of flavoured syrup – vanilla, chocolate, cherry or strawberry – recreating the unmistakable taste of childhood.

Price per milkshake: RUB 950

Join us at the Baltschug to relive the warmth of friendly gatherings, celebrate fond memories and discover new favourites. If a time machine ever existed, we imagine it would look remarkably similar to the bar at Café Kranzler.
