Charity Concert by the ‘Virtuosos of Moscow’ in Support of the Children’s Hospice ‘House with a Lighthouse’

On 19 June, the State Chamber Orchestra ‘Virtuosos of Moscow’ will perform at the Baltschug Kempinski Moscow hotel in support of the children’s hospice ‘House with a Lighthouse’. The orchestra’s artistic director is Vladimir Spivakov.

The Baltschug Kempinski Moscow hotel will serve as the strategic partner of the event, providing the venue and supporting the hospice’s initiatives.

The evening’s programme for string orchestra will feature:

• Gaetano Donizetti – Music for Strings 

• Edvard Grieg – Suite ‘From Holberg’s Time’ 

• Arcangelo Corelli – Sarabanda, Giga and Badinerie 

The programme reflects the evolution of musical form and expression across different eras. Donizetti, best known for his operas, brings to his string writing a transparent, almost theatrical quality, combining Italian lyricism with classical clarity. Grieg’s Suite ‘From Holberg’s Time’ revisits the spirit of the 18th century, reinterpreting Baroque dance forms through Romantic expression and Nordic lyricism. In Pinelli’s arrangement of Corelli’s works, the Sarabanda, Giga and Badinerie become a vivid dialogue between eras, in which structured dance forms are reimagined with a sense of play and renewed rhythmic energy. Together, the works take the listener on a journey from Baroque elegance to Romantic expressiveness, continuously reshaping familiar musical forms along the way.

A defining feature of the concert is that it will be performed without a conductor, requiring exceptional cohesion and close mutual understanding among the musicians.

The concert forms part of the socio-cultural initiative ‘Virtuosi – to Moscow’. All proceeds from ticket sales will support seriously ill children and young adults under the care of the children’s hospice ‘House with a Lighthouse’.

About the Children’s Hospice ‘House with a Lighthouse’

The children’s hospice ‘House with a Lighthouse’ supports seriously ill children and young adults up to the age of 30. The organisation is founded on the belief that children with severe illnesses should have the same opportunities as their healthy peers and should not spend their lives in hospital wards. By arranging professional care at home, it enables families to remain together in a more comfortable and supportive environment.

Its mission is to ensure that, despite serious illness, families can share a life filled with love, dignity and meaningful moments, while no child experiences pain or faces the end of life alone.

Each year, the hospice supports more than 1,100 families affected by serious illness or bereavement. Its team includes over 450 professionals and around 500 volunteers. Funding is primarily raised through donations from individuals and companies, while state support covers around 10% of expenses. All services are provided free of charge.
