Vera Mukhina. Towards the Wind
The exhibition Vera Mukhina: Towards the Wind is on display at the Exhibition Complex of the State Historical Museum until 17 August 2026.
The exhibition showcases key works by Vera Mukhina from different periods of her career, highlighting the breadth and diversity of her artistic legacy. Mukhina favoured ‘true realism’ over photographic resemblance, opposed lifeless naturalism and cliché, and sought to reveal and resolve periods of artistic crisis through her work.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view a bronze sketch of the sculpture group Worker and Kolkhoz Woman, an unofficial symbol of the Soviet state, alongside the sculpture Flame of Revolution, expressive portraits of contemporaries, sketches of unfinished monuments, theatrical designs, art glass and original archival documents.
