Exhibition: ‘The Princes Baryatinsky. Art for the Heirs’
The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts presents the exhibition ‘The Princes Baryatinsky. Art for the Heirs’, continuing its 25-year tradition of projects dedicated to distinguished dynasties of collectors.
The collection of the Baryatinsky princely family exemplifies a body of works in which art played a significant role not only in shaping the atmosphere of a palace estate but also in cultivating a refined spiritual environment and educating future generations. The collection reflects the transition across artistic eras, from the rigour of Classicism to the emergence of mid-19th-century Realism.
Visitors will discover more than 200 works drawn from 25 Russian museums, including paintings, graphic art, sculptures, miniatures, porcelain, archival documents, daguerreotypes and photographs. Many of these works, held for decades in regional museum collections, will be presented together for the first time.
